I-Chien Chen is a Taipei-born artist and curator based in Chicago. Her practice focuses on sites, institutional frameworks, relationships, and collaboration. She works across various mediums, including performance, sound, film, and installation. Through her work, Chen revealed spatial politics, suggested agency, and created poetic scenarios in everyday life.
Chen received her Master of Fine Arts degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) in 2022. Chen has shown her work and performed as an ensemble member at the National Museum of Mexican Art, Mana Contemporary, Goodman Theatre, Experimental Sound Studio, Elastic Art, 6018|North, Comfort Station, Nonation Lab, SITE Gallery, John M. Flaxman Library, ArTrend International Performance Art Festival, and Taiwan Contemporary Cultural Lab.
